Right near midnight Monday reports came into Sno911 of smoke in the building at an assisted living facility for Seniors in the 10300 block of 4th Avenue West in south Everett, Washington. Everett Police arrived and confirmed the smoke and helped staff evacuate the residents. As crews from Everett Fire and South County Fire arrived a call was made to upgrade the response to a second alarm to provide for assistance in evacuating and caring for the residents as needed. Everett Fire reports crews from South County Fire and Mukilteo Fire provided mutual aid. 4th Avenue West was shut down between Everett Mall Way and 104th SW to stage the fire rigs. Residents were only outside briefly as space was made at the opposite end of the facility to keep them inside and warm. The fire was contained to part of the attic and the HVAC system. It was quickly extinguished and the second alarm was cancelled. There were no reports of injuries and an investigator was on scene at the time of this writing to determine the cause of the fire.
