Was under the weather for the past week so had lots of free time to look over the City of Everett Washington’s Active Land Use Projects Website to see what interesting things may be coming up. Let me begin by saying just cause something is listed on the projects website, a meeting is held or preliminary plans submitted, that is no guarantee that anything is proceeding. I simply find it an interesting way to spend some time.
In early November a Land Use Permit Application was submitted for a restaurant with a two lane drive through at the current location of Bob’s Burgers at 1611 SE Everett Mall Way. (next to the Walmart) A further look showed drawings for the site with the Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers logo on them. The national chain has been expanding in Washington State (they currently operate in Spokane and Vancouver) and have set an opening date in Seattle for February 17th. Construction is also reportedly underway on a location on 164th in Lynnwood.
I reached out to the Raising Cane’s corporate office who advised me there is nothing active in Everett, Washington at this time but they would let me know if anything changes. (Note: It took years before the time of initial filing of Land Use Permits and the actual opening of Sonic and Chick-fil-A, both of which are on Everett Mall Way) It appears a preapplication meeting was held in late November but again I don’t want to read too much into that.
Below are photos of what I found and we’ll follow up if something is announced about Raising Cane’s in Everett, Washington. In three weeks though you can take a short drive to the U District in Seattle to get your Raising Cane’s craving satisfied.
