A crazy situation in north Everett, Washington Friday night. The whole incident is under investigation but here is what we know along with some Seen in Everett photos. Shortly after 10 PM Engine 1 was at a medic call with Medic 1 at an apartment in the 2900 block of Hoyt Avenue. While the crew was on the call, the Engine was unattended, running with the emergency lights on facing northbound on Hoyt. Someone got into the Engine and took it, driving north on Hoyt. It was reported to be at a high rate of speed and apparently struck two vehicles in the 1300 block of Hoyt, continuing north. The Engine then went south onto Alverson Boulevard and continued as that roadway became East Marine View Drive. In the 900 block, still going southbound it reportedly hit a median and a large piece of hose came off the rig. The engine continued south striking multiple parked vehicles in the 1000 block and 1100 block coming to a stop after piling up with four vehicles smashed together. The person in the Engine fled and as of this writing (1:30 AM) had not been taken into custody. Amazingly no people have been reported as injured but at least eight vehicles, property and an Everett Fire Department Engine have been seriously damaged to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars.
