Years After Blight Declaration & Purchase For $1.85 Million Waits Motel Property In Everett Washington Still Empty

A fence with a large hole surrounds the 1.5 acre lot that used to hold the Waits Motel in north Everett, Washington.

In 2023 the City Council in Everett, Washington voted 6 – 1 to declare the Waits Motel a blight, buy the property, relocate the residents, and tear the building down. After spending $1.85 Million plus relocation costs the City Council in 2024 voted to rezone the property as townhomes. At last check a couple weeks ago the property remains empty with no private developers willing to buy into the City of Everett’s plan for the site.
