Update 1:45PM: The man arrested in this case (who we are not naming as he has not been formally charged) remains in the Snohomish County Jail on $100,000.00 bond. He did not come to the 1:00PM probable cause hearing which has now been re-scheduled for Thursday at 1PM.
About ten minutes after nine o’clock Tuesday night a man reportedly drove into the main entrance parking lot at the Everett Police south precinct off Everett Mall Way in Everett, Washington. EPD Public Information officer Natalie Given tells Seen in Everett a man exited the vehicle and shortly after it exploded into flames. EVERETT, WA – On May 5, 2026, at approximately 9:15 pm, a white van was driven into the parking lot of the Everett Police Department South Precinct, 1121 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett, Washington.
Shortly thereafter, officers in the vicinity heard an explosion coming from the van, which was subsequently engulfed in flames.
The suspect vehicle’s driver, a 35-year-old male, who had exited the van, was taken into custody by police. The Everett Fire Department responded to assist with extinguishing the fire.
Following an initial investigation, the suspect driver was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for Arson in the 1st Degree.
The motive behind this incident is still unknown. At this time, the explosion is believed to have been the result of the fire over-pressuring the vehicle’s seals, causing them to rupture.
This is an active and ongoing investigation and there are no further details at the time.
