At their meeting on Wednesday September 17th, the City Council in Everett, Washington is set to vote on a resolution rebuking Kroger’s closure of the SW Everett Fred Meyer store at 8530 Evergreen Way. Here’s what the resolution looks like as presented in their City Council Agenda packet.

On August 18th Kroger announced it was closing the store due to what it said in an email was “to a steady rise in theft and a challenging regulatory environment that adds significant costs,” Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin disputed that and provided statistics she said showed the calls to the store for criminal activity were down significantly. The meeting and vote will take place Wednesday September 17th at 6:30 PM at 3002 Wetmore in the Everett City Council Chambers.
