Just before 4:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026,
Snohomish County 911 received multiple reports of a fire at Centre Pointe Green Apartments, 8600 18th Avenue West. Callers reported flames spreading to other units in the F building and heavy smoke.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes of dispatch and found a working fire on the second and third floors. The incident commander quickly upgraded the response to a second alarm to ensure adequate staffing and resources. A total of 24 fire and EMS apparatus responded.
While some crews worked to contain the fire, other firefighters rescued seven residents from third-floor balconies using ground ladders because smoke blocked the front doors to exit their apartments.
At approximately 5:02 a.m., firefighters extinguished the main body of fire in the original unit. Crews continued to check for fire extension and address hot spots. By 5:55 a.m., they transitioned to overhaul operations and continued extinguishing remaining hot spots. Most active fire suppression and overhaul were completed by about 8:00 a.m., though some units remained on scene throughout the morning to monitor conditions and assist with the investigation.
A total of 10 apartments were impacted by the fire. During the early stages of the incident, Everett Fire confirmed that approximately 10 residents required assistance from the American Red Cross Northwest Region. As additional residents were accounted for and assessments continued, the Red Cross later confirmed that they are assisting 41 displaced residents. This release updates the previously reported displacement number.
One resident was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of smoke inhalation. Another individual was evaluated on scene and released. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation. At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that any criminal activity caused the fire.
Everett Fire thanks its regional partners for their support, including South County Fire, Marysville Fire District, Mukilteo Fire Department, and the Everett Police Department.

• Ensure working smoke alarms are in your home; they provide the earliest warning to safely evacuate in the event of a fire.
• Know two ways out of your apartment and building.
• Practice your escape plan with all members of your household.
• If you are unable to evacuate, call 911, and signal for help from a window or balcony.
• Never return to a building once you have evacuated during a fire.
