Not a lot of information thus far but Pecks Drive between Cady Road and Evergreen Way is closed in both directions as is Fleming Street between Pecks Drive and 60th. Per Everett Police Public Information Officer Natalie Given there is an ongoing investigation into a shooting that involved multiple Washington State area law enforcement agencies. One person is dead. No officers were injured. It occurred in the 6100 block of Fleming Street early Friday morning around 5AM. There are numerous agencies on scene as officials determine what happened, who was involved and who will be investigating. There is no other information at this time. Detectives with the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) are investigating a use of force incident which occurred on January 2, 2026, in the 6100 block of Fleming St, Everett, Washington.
At approximately 4:48 am, Skagit County dispatch advised deputies were in pursuit following shots fired from a vehicle and requested regional assistance. Dispatch broadcasted there was probable cause for DV Assault 1 for the male suspect. He was reported to be armed with a firearm.
The suspect was located by authorities and pursued into the City of Everett by the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, Sedro Woolley Police Department, Washington State Patrol, and Arlington Police Department.
The pursuit culminated in the 6100 block of Fleming St. Less lethal means were utilized to attempt to apprehend the armed suspect. During the confrontation, officers fired shots. First responders rendered aid to the suspect however he died at the scene.
Identification of the decedent, as well as cause and manner of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
There is no threat to public safety and there are no outstanding suspects.
The earlier assault incidents are being investigated by the Skagit County independent investigations team.
The investigation is being conducted by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART). SMART is a team of investigators, evidence technicians, records specialist, and public information officers from various Snohomish County law enforcement agencies and Washington State Patrol, who respond to, and investigate, police use of force incidents. There are civilian community members who also serve on the SMART team per the Law Enforcement Training and Community Safety Act (LETSCA). When the SMART investigation is complete, results will be forwarded to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
