Everett Police Department officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the FarWest Motel on Evergreen Way around 11:30 a.m Friday morning. The disturbance involved a male and a female, and there was mention of a firearm. Upon arrival, officers contacted the two subjects involved, and the male was armed with a handgun.
An altercation occurred, and an Everett officer discharged their firearm. The male and female then entered what’s believed to be their room at the motel and barricaded themselves inside.
Officers made several attempts to de-escalate the situation and asked the male and female to exit the room. There was no response, and the Region 1 SWAT team responded to assist. Officers used several
tactics to try and get the male and female to exit the room. These tactics included the use of a negotiator and a drone. As de-escalation efforts continued, officers utilized less-lethal tools, and the male and female exited the room and were taken into custody without incident.
The male had minor injuries and was seen by aid on scene. He was transported to a local hospital to be
treated. The female was uninjured. All officers on scene were uninjured, and no one else was harmed.
The male will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on charges of Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Trespass 1st Degree. The female was booked on charges of Criminal Trespass 1st Degree. The SMART team is on scene investigating the incident, and any further updates will be released on our
SMART website.
