It will be Saturday before the crew is back up and running at the Totem Diner following a bizarre hit and run into their building at 4410 Rucker Avenue in Everett, Washington Wednesday afternoon. Shortly before 5 PM (after the business was closed) a car that had been parked in front of the garbage cans on the east side of the diner rapidly backed up in a half circle and rammed into the side of the building. The car sat for half a moment and pieces fell off and the back window shattered. Then the driver sped off onto Rucker leaving behind strange items such as a loaf of bread and a single winter glove (along with various pieces of the back of the car) as the rear bumper hung off of the car and dragged on the ground behind..
“Well on the bright side, no eggs were broken,” said owner Steve Jermyn slowly shaking his head. His insurance company will have to come out and assess the damage in the morning before repairs can get underway. The front counter was damaged along with both sides of the building’s east wall. Steve is working on providing video for Everett Police who came out and took a report. The car was described as a dark blue 4-door Nissan. Anyone who may have seen anything just before 5 PM is asked to call Everett Police at 911 tonight or tomorrow on their tip line at (425) 257-8450. In the meantime here are some photos of the damage.
