After the closure of the Grand Leader Mercantile on Hewitt Avenue earlier this year Vanessa Curtis began looking for space to open her own shop in downtown Everett, Washington. She found that spot at 2614 Colby Avenue right next to Frying Lemon Fish and across the street from Burkett’s. Curtis describes it as a gift store that is filled with thoughtfully gathered goods. “I’d been operating at the Hewitt location for three and a half years and have a good idea of what people like.” The store is open Monday – Saturday from 10:00AM – 6:00PM and Sundays 10 – 4. They are cashless but don’t charge any credit card fees. If you’re out at Sorticulture, stop by on Colby just north of Everett Avenue and check out another great independent small business.
