Last week Barry Boyle passed away. Mr Boyle was the owner of The Irishmen Pub at 2923 Colby in downtown Everett, Washington. This was not a restaurant, nor a bar this was an authentic Irish Pub. When I met him in 2017 he told me how proud he was of his heritage and how authentic the Irishmen was. He opened in 2007 after working at various Irish restaurants in Seattle. Here in Everett, they made their own bread and buns and recipes came directly from his mother’s kitchen with dishes Barry grew up on in Belfast. A huge selection of Irish drink was featured at the bar along with Monday night jam sessions with Irish musicians from around Puget Sound. Today a remembrance was held with family and friends first at the Irishmen Pub and then following a walking procession along Colby, at Solie Funeral Home. Here are some photos of friends honoring Barry. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to Barry’s favorite charity, Save-a-Mutt.
