As forecast, just before 8:00 PM the lightning storm moved through Everett, Washington. Right around 8:00 PM there was a report of a transformer being struck in the Valley View neighborhood. The Snohomish PUD outage map showed 24 customers without power there.
About 8:20 PM Everett Fire received a report of lightning striking the roof of a home in the area of 33rd and Kromer. Per Everett Fire that lightning strike started a fire on the roof that Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish before it spread. Firefighters determined the electrical system in the home had been compromised. Thankfully, there were no injuries. The PUD outage map showed 22 customers without power in that neighborhood. As of this writing (9:30 PM) there were no other reports of damage. Here are a few “Seen in Everett” photos from the Kromer neighborhood.
